I love this short film. It not only shows how the health of a student can affect that student in possibly unexpected ways but also how creativity and expression can be healing tools.
I loved this film. So often we think of people with handicaps as in a wheelchair or with some other debilitating visible handicap. Asthma is fairly common but does not come to mind at first as affecting able bodiness. As far as teaching is concerned, this film showed how we have so many aspects and talents. When you are affected in one way, other talents and abilities emerge! When others slow down, they appreciate your talents. I like the way the Winston inspired the other children. I really wanted to post this to my blog, but it is your "get!" Thank you for sharing it.
After watching this I know realize its a much more broader disability about able bodiness. It also reminded me that my dad has a walking disability and has to take a lot of medication and wheres a brace on his leg. One time when we were going on an airplane my dad went through the metal detector and had to take off his brace which made him take longer to go through than the average person. Also, because he takes a lot of medication there was residue on his hands and the security had to do tests and wipe his hands down to make sure it wasnt anything bad. I remember thinking how long it took and being angry that it took so long; but now I wonder and sympathize with my dad because imagine how he felt that he got singled out and it couldve made him embarrassed.
